Some Firing Signs/Tricks from Sick Organizations

A sick organization will use all sorts of nasty tricks to set someone up to fire them; there are also some signs that may indicate a future firing. A sign can be the result of a dirty trick. The tricks can be numerous, and may vary per type of organization. Beware of working for a government agency --- they will claim immunity or tell you to get a good attorney if/when they violate federal, state, or local laws and you challenge them. Some of the firing signs/tricks from sick organizations are as follows (in no special order):

Your computer mysteriously goes down….and no one rushes to fix it.

Your computer hard drive is formatted, leaving you with nothing.

After having student interns for years, you are told there were not enough students this year and no one signed up with you.

Suddenly the supplies you need to do your job are not being allowed.

You are not allowed to use up your travel, or vacation, or sick, or comp time.

They don’t follow their own employer/employee handbook, and tell you if you don’t like it to hire a good attorney.

Rules you did not know existed are made up daily, and they pertain only to you.

All of the legal information on the bulletin board pertaining to job discrimination, harassment, etc. mysteriously disappears.

Memos and mail never make it to you, and then you get accused of not doing something a missing memo had requested.

Your submissions and important papers disappear…or get "lost" en route to/from superiors.

You get nasty memos so they can document you being accused of being wrong on something.

Nasty jobs get assigned to you to see if you become insubordinate, and can be easily fired.

Someone has been going through your office after hours. (Look for something missing, or something planted.)

You have to defend yourself or justify your job on a daily basis.

You are no longer asked for, or allowed, input, even on your own job.

People no longer show interest in your work.

They paint your door and do not re-attach your name to door.

They say they are going to remodel your office and ask you to move to a smaller place.

A fellow worker demands to get your office and they give it to them.

They move your parking space.

They give out new company tee shirts, hats, etc. and you don’t get any.

They do not issue you a new company ID badge.

The locks are "upgraded" and you don’t get a key.

Your office is no longer cleaned or trash emptied.

Your local politician no longer greets you as a friend.

A younger person you trained suddenly needs a job (yours).

People who have borrowed stuff suddenly decide it is time to return items.

Strangers are brought in for PR pictures around your work.

The PR people act like you are not around, and talk to others about your work.

Your co-workers start avoiding you, and not paying attention to you.

You are mysteriously poisoned and they do not investigate.

They investigate and hold hearings on various things you say.

Your section has a party, and you are not invited.

The "bad-mouthing" and lies about you increase in frequency and volume.

You catch your famous "scientist" boss in slanders, etc., and higher bosses do nothing about it, but you are now the "troublemaker."

They enlist your "loving" spouse to spy on you and feed them "dirt" they can use so she can also get what she wants, your destruction, money, property, and kids.

They ask you to write a report on all your methods, or to give them a disc of all your files.

They pad your yearly evaluation papers, which you are asked to sign off on, with lies and half-truths.  They ask you to admit (sign off on) their lies.
